Description
The Stable Cafe aimed to introduce a new dining experience utilising the existing cafe and its interior. Offering modern Indian cuisine to Sydney’s Inner-West, this brand needed to tie into the existing theme of the rustic, barn-inspired aesthetic. We proposed the name ‘Savaari’, meaning Rider in Hindi, which carries a sophisticated pronunciation to fit the more classic dining experience they wanted to offer. Our goal was to create a trendy and youthful identity that would capture the local audience.

Taking cues from Hindi typography with the stem sitting across the glyphs, mixed with rustic yet sophisticated forms, we designed a custom logo. This was paired with an organic body font and an embellished headline font, creating a subtle brand with its character hidden within the details.
Further supporting the theme, we used leather menu covers inspired by saddles and created an illustration set that took hints from the mysterious ‘rider’ character living within the brand. Complementing the cuisine, which is inspired by the idea of travelling through the south of India with dishes drawing from the indigenous spices of each locale, the menu evolves, narrating the exploration and essence of the journey.
